Letter from the President

Hello and welcome to the Delta Gamma chapter of Tri Delta! Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and find out what life as a Tri Delta is all about. As a part of the Vanderbilt community for over one hundred years, our chapter is proud to have maintained academic excellence while also being one of Vanderbilt Greek Life's top fundraising chapters. Fortunately, we have a great time doing it all too! We're looking forward to another successful year and can’t wait to continue improving.

Service and philanthropy are an important part of our Greek experience. Our annual dance show, Delta Underground, takes place in the fall and benefits our chapter's local philanthropy, Nashville’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. In addition, Tri Delta's national philanthropy is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  In addition to Delta Underground, we added a new fall philanthropy event benefiting St. Jude called Bids 4 Kids. Held over Family Weekend, Bids 4 Kids is a dinner and silent auction event where members and their families can come to celebrate the beginning of a new year and donate to our amazing cause! Each year, sisters also have the opportunity to take a trip to Memphis, TN to tour the St. Jude Hospital and interact with patients and their families. Speaking from personal experience, this trip really was an amazing way to grow closer to my pledge class and see the wonderful effects of all our efforts, firsthand.

Vanderbilt Tri Delta has been consistently honored as one of the top fundraisers among Tri Delta chapters across the country, and we plan to continue to raise our fundraising total this year. This past year, Tri Delta chapters across the nation collectively raised $7.8 million for St. Jude. In recent years, our Vanderbilt chapter alone has been awarded the Chapter of the Year Award for our national Tri Delta division, in addition to the Panhellenic Outstanding Philanthropy Project Award, chosen out of all of the fraternities and sororities on campus. Spring of 2019, we were awarded Chapter of the Year by the Vanderbilt Panhellenic community.

Beyond our involvement through service, Tri Delta maintains a strong presence on campus throughout the year. We participate in almost every fraternity philanthropy event, and have won quite a few.  One of our proudest accomplishments every year is the money we raise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society during Sigma Chi Derby Days, and we always have a blast participating. With members on the Varsity dance, cheerleading, swimming, soccer, cross country, track and field, and lacrosse teams as well as student leaders in almost every major student organization, it’s hard to miss Tri Deltas on campus.  We are so proud of the commitment and involvement that our members dedicate to the Vanderbilt community, and love to learn about the wide variety of activities everyone is involved in.

Deciding to join the Tri Delt family at Vandy has been one of the most exciting and fulfilling decisions I’ve made since coming to campus.  Being a part of this chapter has not only allowed me to meet so many wonderful peers who have since turned into great friends, but it also has also broadened my perspectives, bolstered my academics, and challenged and refined my leadership skills in the most empowering way. I’m so grateful for the chance to be a part of such an awesome and impactful organization, and I look forward to watching the chapter grow and excel even more this year. Each member brings a unique and valued presence to our house, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome home our new class next spring. We hope you enjoy learning more about our chapter and hope to see you soon!

Delta Love and Mine,

Emma Rafatjoo
