Tri Delta

Delta Gamma Chapter at Vanderbilt University

Letter from the President

Hello and welcome to the Delta Gamma chapter of Tri Delta! Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and find out what life as a Tri Delta is all about. As a part of the Vanderbilt community for over one hundred years, our chapter is proud to have maintained academic excellence while also being Vanderbilt Greek Life's top fundraising chapter. Fortunately, we have a great time doing it all too! We're looking forward to another successful year and can’t wait to continue improving.

Service and philanthropy are an important part of our Greek experience. Our annual dance show, Delta Underground, benefits Nashville’s Monroe Carrel Jr. Children’s Hospital, our chapter's local philanthropy. In addition, Tri Delta’s national philanthropy is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Our spring philanthropy event, Frats at Bat, is dedicated to this cause. Each year, sisters have the opportunity to take a trip as a chapter to Memphis, TN to tour the St. Jude Hospital and interact with patients and their families. Speaking from personal experience, I can say that this is one of my most meaningful, and emotional, experiences during my time at Vanderbilt.

Despite the great success of our philanthropic endeavors, we're always looking for ways to expand and improve. Last year, we created a new fundraising initiative for St. Jude by beginning an annual pancake sale called Delta House of Pancakes.  For its first year, the event was really successful; we can't wait to see it grow! Vanderbilt Tri Delta has been consistently honored as one of the top fundraisers among Tri Delta chapters across the country, and we plan to continue to raise our fundraising total this year. Nationally, out of all Tri Delta chapters of all sizes, our chapter had the 11th highest grand total of money raised for St. Jude in one year. Last year, we also won the Chapter of the Year Award for our national Tri Delta division. We were recently awarded Panhellenic Outstanding Philanthropy Project, chosen out of all of the fraternities and sororities on campus.

Beyond our involvement through service, Tri Delta maintains a strong presence on campus throughout the year. We participate in almost every fraternity philanthropy event, and have won quite a few!  One of our proudest accomplishments was the $13,000 we raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society during Sigma Chi Derby Days last year, making us the winning Sorority of the philanthropy event! With members on the Varsity dance, cheerleading, swimming, soccer, cross country, track and field, and lacrosse teams as well as student leaders in almost every major student organization, it’s hard to miss Tri Deltas on campus.

My time at Vanderbilt would not be complete without the invaluable guidance, inspiration, advice, and support I’ve gained from the incredible members of our chapter - not to mention all the late night dance parties and many afternoons spent relaxing on our sectional couch!  I had no idea that being a member of Tri Delta could give me so many incredible relationships and present me with so many opportunities, but now I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else. We hope you enjoy learning more about our chapter, and hope to see you soon!

Delta Love and Mine,

Olivia Schultz
